What is Dermol 200 Shower Emollient 200ml?
A licensed emollient used instead of soap or shower gel by people with dry, itchy or eczema-prone skin. It contains two antimicrobials as well as the moisturising ingredients, which is why it is often chosen for skin that becomes infected easily. The 200ml bottle is a useful size for travelling or for keeping in a second bathroom.
How does it help?
Ordinary soaps and shower gels strip the natural oils out of the skin, which is what leaves it tight and itchy afterwards. This product cleans without doing that: the liquid paraffin and isopropyl myristate lift dirt while leaving a thin oily film that helps the skin hold on to water. The benzalkonium chloride and chlorhexidine reduce bacteria on the skin surface.
Key benefits
- Cleans without the drying effect of soap and shower gel
- Contains antimicrobials, so it suits skin that is prone to becoming infected
- Can be used on the face, hands and body, in or out of the shower
- Handy 200ml size for travel or a second bathroom
Who should take care?
Always read the patient information leaflet before use. For external use only — avoid the eyes and rinse with water if any gets in. It makes the bath or shower tray slippery, so take care and clean the surface afterwards. Important fire warning: paraffin-based emollients soak into clothing, bedding, dressings and towels and make them burn much more easily. Keep away from cigarettes, lighters and naked flames, and wash fabrics often — though washing does not fully remove the risk. Speak to our pharmacist if the skin is weeping, crusted or looks infected, or if it is not improving. The pharmacist checks your answers before it is supplied.
