What is Dermacool 2% Menthol Aqueous Cream?

A cooling cream made of 2% menthol in an aqueous cream base. It cools and soothes dry, irritated and itchy-feeling skin. It is a cosmetic cream, not a licensed medicine, and it does not treat skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis or hives.

How does it help?

Menthol acts on the cold-sensing nerve endings in the skin, giving a cooling feeling that helps take the edge off the urge to scratch. The paraffin-based cream sits on the skin and helps it hold on to moisture, so dry, tight skin feels more comfortable. Apply to clean, dry skin daily or as often as needed.

Who should take care?

Always read the instructions before use. For external use only. Do not apply to broken or damaged skin, and keep it away from the eyes - rinse straight away with water if it gets in. Do not apply it to the face, nose or upper lip of babies or young children, do not let young children apply it themselves, and keep it out of their reach. Do not use it if you are allergic to any of the ingredients, and stop if a rash or irritation develops. If it is swallowed, get medical advice. It contains paraffin: fabric with cream on it burns more easily, so keep away from naked flames and wash clothing and bedding regularly. Speak to our pharmacist or your GP if the skin is weeping, blistered or looks infected, or the itching is not settling.
