Daktarin Aktiv Cream is a miconazole antifungal cream that treats athlete's foot and is rubbed into the affected skin twice a day.
What is Daktarin Aktiv Cream 30g?
Daktarin Aktiv Cream is an antifungal cream containing miconazole nitrate 2%. It is licensed to treat athlete's foot, the itchy, flaky fungal infection that usually starts between the toes and can spread across the sole. The 30g tube is enough for a full course on both feet.
How does it help?
Miconazole is an imidazole antifungal. It damages the cell wall of the fungus that causes athlete's foot, so the fungus stops growing and dies off. Wash and dry the feet, then rub a small amount of cream into the affected skin and the skin around it twice a day. Keep going for at least a week after the skin looks and feels normal, which helps stop the infection coming back; a course usually takes two to six weeks depending on how bad it was.
Key benefits
- Treats the fungus that causes athlete's foot rather than just the itch
- Rubs in easily and does not leave the skin greasy
- Licensed for use on the feet at any age
- A 30g tube covers a full course of treatment
Who should take care?
Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Do not use if you are allergic to miconazole, other imidazole antifungals (such as clotrimazole) or any of the other ingredients. Keep it away from the eyes. It contains benzoic acid, which can mildly irritate the skin and needs care in newborn babies, and butylated hydroxyanisole, which can cause local skin reactions. If you take warfarin or another blood-thinning medicine, ask our pharmacist first, as miconazole can add to its effect even when used on the skin. Use with care in pregnancy and while breastfeeding. Stop and seek help straight away if you get swelling of the face or mouth or difficulty breathing. If there is no improvement after a few weeks, see your GP.
