What is Calpol SixPlus Sugar Free Suspension Strawberry Flavour 6+ Years 200ml?

Calpol SixPlus Sugar Free Suspension is a liquid paracetamol medicine for children from 6 years old. Each 5ml contains 250mg of paracetamol, so older children need a smaller measured amount than they would with the infant strength. It is sugar free and colour free, has a strawberry flavour, and comes in a 200ml bottle.

How does it help?

Paracetamol works in the brain and nervous system to dampen the signals that make us feel pain, and it acts on the part of the brain that controls body temperature to bring a fever down. The dose depends on your child's age and is given up to four times in 24 hours, with a gap of at least four hours between doses.

Who should take care?

Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Do not give more than 4 doses in any 24 hours, and never give it alongside other medicines containing paracetamol, as taking too much can cause liver damage. Do not give it for more than 3 days without speaking to your doctor or pharmacist. It contains sorbitol and maltitol, which can have a mild laxative effect, and it is not suitable for people with hereditary fructose intolerance. Tell the pharmacist if your child has severe liver or kidney problems. Our pharmacist checks it is right for you before it is dispensed.
