What is Calprofen Ibuprofen Suspension 100mg/5ml 200ml?

Calprofen Ibuprofen Suspension is a pharmacy medicine for pain and fever in children from 3 months - including teething, toothache, earache, sore throat, headache, aches and the symptoms of colds and flu, and fever after immunisation.

How does it help?

Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory painkiller that reduces pain, fever and inflammation. Shake well and use the syringe. Infants 3-6 months (over 5kg): 2.5ml up to 3 times in 24 hours, for no more than 24 hours. 6-12 months: 2.5ml three times a day. 1-2 years: 2.5ml three to four times a day. 3-7 years: 5ml three to four times a day. 8-12 years: 10ml three to four times a day. Leave at least 4 hours between doses. Fever after vaccination: 2.5ml, then one more 2.5ml dose 6 hours later if needed - no more than 2 doses in 24 hours.

Who should take care?

Not for babies under 3 months or under 5kg. Do not give with other ibuprofen or anti-inflammatory medicines. Do not give to a child who is dehydrated (vomiting or diarrhoea and not drinking) or has chickenpox, or who has had a reaction to aspirin or ibuprofen. For babies 3-5 months see a doctor if symptoms last more than 24 hours or get worse; for older children, after 3 days. Contains maltitol - not for hereditary fructose intolerance. Get urgent help for a baby under 3 months with a temperature of 38C or more, or any child who is floppy, has a rash that does not fade, or has trouble breathing.
