What is Beclometasone 50mcg Nasal Spray 180 Doses?

This is a generic beclometasone dipropionate steroid nasal spray in a pharmacy pack licensed for adults aged 18 and over. It is used to treat and prevent allergic rhinitis, including hay fever, which shows up as sneezing and an itchy, runny or blocked nose. The manufacturer of the pack we supply may vary, but the medicine and strength stay the same.

How does it help?

Beclometasone is a corticosteroid. When sprayed into the nose, it calms the inflammation that pollen and other allergens trigger in the lining of the nose. This reduces sneezing, itching, a runny nose and congestion. It does not work straight away. It builds up with regular use, so it works best when used every day, and it can be started before your symptoms usually begin.

Who should take care?

Always read the patient information leaflet before use. This pack is for adults aged 18 and over. Children and teenagers should talk to our pharmacist or their doctor about hay fever treatment. The usual dose is two sprays into each nostril twice a day, and no more than eight sprays in a day. Do not use it continuously for more than three months without speaking to a pharmacist or doctor. Tell us if you have a nose or sinus infection, have recently had nose surgery, a nose injury or ulcers in your nose, use any other steroid medicine (including inhalers, tablets or creams), take ritonavir or cobicistat, have glaucoma, or are pregnant or breastfeeding. Get medical help straight away if you notice swelling of the face, lips or throat, a rash, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Speak to your doctor if your vision becomes blurred.
