What it is
For sinusitis lasting more than about 10 days, our pharmacist can supply a steroid nasal spray (mometasone) or, where a bacterial infection is likely, a back-up antibiotic. Our pharmacist will explain the options at your assessment.

Suitable if…
- Adults aged 18 and over. Ages 12+ are treated free under NHS Pharmacy First.
- Your symptoms match what this treats
- You have no reason below not to use it
Not suitable if…
- your symptoms are less than 10 days old (most sinusitis settles on its own)
- you have severe headache, facial swelling or visual changes (seek urgent care)
- you're pregnant or breastfeeding

How long should I wait before getting treatment?
Most sinusitis improves within 2–3 weeks without antibiotics. Treatment is usually only considered after about 10 days with no improvement.
Is the NHS service free?
Yes — for anyone aged 12 and over, sinusitis is covered free under NHS Pharmacy First.
