What is Sudafed Sinus-Ease 0.1% Nasal Spray 15ml?

Sudafed Sinus-Ease is a metered-dose nasal spray containing the decongestant xylometazoline. It relieves the symptoms of nasal congestion caused by a cold, flu, sinusitis, or allergic and non-allergic rhinitis.

How does it help?

Xylometazoline narrows the swollen blood vessels in the lining of the nose. As the swelling goes down, the nasal passages open and the blocked, pressured feeling eases. It is sprayed straight into the nose, so very little is absorbed into the rest of the body.

Who should take care?

Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Do not use it for more than 7 days in a row, because longer use can make the nose blocked again (rebound congestion). Do not use it if you are taking an MAOI (a medicine for depression or Parkinson's disease) or have taken one in the last two weeks, or if you have had your pituitary gland removed or surgery that exposed the dura mater (the membrane around the brain). Speak to us first if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid, diabetes or long QT syndrome, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. It contains benzalkonium chloride, which can irritate or swell the inside of the nose, especially with long use. Not for children under 12.
