What is Wind-eze Gel Capsules 20?

Wind-eze Gel Capsules are soft gel capsules for the stomach discomfort, pain and bloating caused by trapped wind. Each capsule contains 125mg of simeticone. The product is listed as a medical device rather than a licensed medicine.

How does it help?

Trapped wind is often lots of small gas bubbles caught in the gut, which stretch it and cause pain and a bloated feeling. Simeticone lowers the surface tension of those bubbles so they join together into larger pockets of gas that are passed more easily, by burping or as wind. It works inside the gut and is not absorbed into the body. Swallow one capsule with water three or four times a day after meals and at bedtime, as needed.

Who should take care?

Always read the instructions before use. Not for children under 12. Do not take it if you are allergic to simeticone or any of the other ingredients, or if you take a mineral oil (liquid paraffin) laxative. Do not take more than the stated dose. The capsules contain glycerol, which in high doses can cause headache, stomach upset and diarrhoea. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning a pregnancy, ask our pharmacist before using it. Get medical advice if your symptoms last more than 14 days or get worse. See your GP promptly if bloating keeps coming back, or comes with a lasting change in your bowel habit, blood in your stools, unexplained weight loss or difficulty swallowing.
