What is Vitabiotics Jointace Collagen Tablets (30)?
A food supplement taken as two tablets a day. Each daily dose provides type II collagen, glucosamine and chondroitin alongside vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E, folic acid, vitamin B12, zinc, copper, manganese, selenium and ginger root extract. It is a supplement rather than a medicine, and it is not a treatment for arthritis or for joint pain.
How does it help?
The nutrients are what carry authorised claims in the UK. Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of bones and cartilage; vitamin D, zinc and manganese contribute to the maintenance of normal bones; and copper contributes to the maintenance of normal connective tissue. The collagen, glucosamine, chondroitin and ginger are included as dietary ingredients, and because no health claim is authorised for them here, we do not make one.

Who should take care?
Always read the instructions before use. This is a food supplement rather than a licensed medicine, so the pack label and directions are what to read before taking it. Do not exceed the stated dose of two tablets a day, and do not double up with other supplements containing vitamin D or selenium. The glucosamine is derived from shellfish, so check the pack before taking it if you have a shellfish allergy. It is not recommended for children, or during pregnancy or breastfeeding. A supplement does not replace a varied and balanced diet. Joint pain that is new, severe, swollen or getting worse should be seen by your GP rather than managed with a supplement.
