Sudocrem Antiseptic Healing Cream is a thick soothing barrier cream for nappy rash, minor cuts and grazes, minor burns and sore, eczema-prone skin.

What is Sudocrem Antiseptic Healing Cream?

Sudocrem Antiseptic Healing Cream is a thick, pale cream that has been in British medicine cabinets for generations. It is used on nappy rash, on minor cuts, grazes and burns, on chilblains and bed sores, and on sore, irritated or eczema-prone skin. It is on general sale, so no prescription is needed, and it is suitable for babies as well as adults.

How does it help?

The cream works in a few ways at once. Zinc oxide sits on the surface as a water-repellent barrier, so urine, moisture and rubbing cannot keep irritating skin that is already sore. Benzyl alcohol acts as a mild antiseptic and mild local anaesthetic to help take the sting out of the area. Benzyl benzoate and benzyl cinnamate support the skin as it settles, and hypoallergenic lanolin softens the surface so a thin smear spreads easily without dragging on tender skin.

Key benefits

  • Forms a protective barrier that keeps moisture and rubbing off skin that is already sore
  • One pot covers several everyday jobs: nappy rash, grazes, minor burns and irritated skin
  • A thin smear is enough, so a 250g pot lasts a long time
  • Available without a prescription, and our pharmacist is here if you want to check it is the right choice

Who should take care?

Always read the patient information leaflet before use. For external use only and not for use in or near the eyes. Do not use it if you have ever reacted to lanolin or to any of the other ingredients. Apply a thin layer only. It is not intended for deep or heavily bleeding wounds, or for skin that looks infected with spreading redness, heat or pus - those need looking at properly. If the skin does not start to improve within a few days, or gets worse at any point, speak to our pharmacist or your GP. Our pharmacist checks it is right for you before it is dispensed.
