Sudafed Sinus Pressure & Pain combines ibuprofen with the decongestant pseudoephedrine to ease a blocked nose from sinusitis that is likely to be viral, when it comes with a headache or fever, for adults and young people aged 15 and over.

What is Sudafed Sinus Pressure & Pain Tablets 24?

Sudafed Sinus Pressure & Pain is a pharmacy tablet for a blocked nose caused by acute sinusitis that is likely to be viral, when it comes with a headache or a raised temperature. Each tablet combines an anti-inflammatory painkiller with a nasal decongestant.

How does it help?

Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID). It reduces the body chemicals that cause pain, swelling and fever. Pseudoephedrine narrows the swollen blood vessels lining the nose and sinuses, which helps open the airways and ease the pressure around the cheeks and forehead.

Key benefits

  • Treats sinus congestion and the headache or fever that comes with it
  • One tablet every 6 hours, or two for more intense symptoms, up to 6 tablets in 24 hours
  • A short course of up to 4 days for adults and 3 days for 15 to 17 year olds
  • Sold under a pharmacist's supervision, so it can be checked against your other medicines

Who should take care?

Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Do not take it if you have high blood pressure, heart disease or angina, a fast heart rate, an overactive thyroid, diabetes or phaeochromocytoma; if you have had a stroke, heart attack or seizure, or have risk factors for stroke; if you have ever had a stomach ulcer or bleeding, or asthma, swelling or hives after aspirin or another anti-inflammatory painkiller; if you have severe liver, kidney or heart failure, a risk of closed-angle glaucoma, difficulty passing urine because of prostate problems, or lupus (SLE); or if you take another decongestant, methylphenidate, or an MAOI (a medicine for depression or Parkinson's disease) now or in the last two weeks. It must not be taken in the last three months of pregnancy or while breastfeeding, and earlier in pregnancy only under a doctor's supervision. Do not take it with other anti-inflammatory painkillers. If your symptoms are mainly pain or mainly a blocked nose, a single-ingredient medicine is usually more suitable, so ask us. Stop and get medical help straight away if you get a sudden severe headache, confusion, a seizure, sudden loss of vision, sudden stomach pain or bleeding from the bottom, or a widespread red rash with small pustules. UK law limits how much pseudoephedrine can be sold at one time, so we can supply one pack per order. Our pharmacist checks it is right for you before it is supplied.
