What is Stomach Ulcer Test Kit (2San)?
A single-use home test kit that looks for Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), a stomach bacterium that is one of the most common causes of stomach ulcers and long-running indigestion.
How does it help?
You collect a small stool sample using the paper and the tube of buffer provided, then place a few drops onto the test cassette. If H. pylori antigen is present in the sample it binds to antibodies on the strip and a coloured test line appears alongside the control line. You read the result after about 10 minutes.

Who should take care?

This is a screening test, not a diagnosis - a positive result should be discussed with your GP or our pharmacist, and a negative result does not rule out an ulcer or other stomach problems. Follow the timings exactly, use the kit once only, and check the expiry date first. See a doctor urgently, or call 111, if you have black or tar-like stools, are vomiting blood, are losing weight without trying, are having difficulty swallowing, or have severe stomach pain.
