What is Nasacort Allergy Relief for Adults Nasal Spray 30 Sprays?
Nasacort Allergy Relief is a nasal spray containing triamcinolone acetonide, a type of corticosteroid (steroid). It treats the nasal symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis, including hay fever: sneezing, an itchy nose, and a blocked, stuffy or runny nose. It is for adults aged 18 and over.
How does it help?
In hay fever, pollen makes the lining of the nose inflamed, which causes sneezing, itching, swelling and a runny nose. Triamcinolone is a steroid that reduces this inflammation in the lining of the nose. It works best when used regularly: some people notice relief within the first day, while for others it takes 3 to 4 days.
Key benefits
- One dose a day
- Treats a blocked nose as well as sneezing, itching and a runny nose
- Once symptoms are under control, the dose can often be lowered to one spray per nostril
- Unscented spray
Who should take care?
Always read the patient information leaflet before use. For adults aged 18 and over only. Use 2 sprays in each nostril once a day, lowering to 1 spray in each nostril once a day when symptoms are controlled, and never more than 2 sprays in each nostril a day. If your symptoms have not improved within 7 days, stop and speak to your doctor or pharmacist, and do not use it continuously for more than a month without medical advice. Do not use if you are allergic to triamcinolone or any of the other ingredients. Speak to a pharmacist or doctor first if you have an untreated nose or throat infection, have recently had nose surgery or have an injury or ulcer in the nose, have had glaucoma or cataracts, are switching from steroid tablets or injections, take HIV medicines such as ritonavir or cobicistat, or are pregnant or breastfeeding. Contact your doctor if you notice blurred vision or other changes in your sight. The spray contains benzalkonium chloride, which can irritate or cause swelling inside the nose, especially with long-term use. Our pharmacist is happy to check it is right for you before it is supplied.
