What is Mepore and Mepore Ultra Self-Adhesive Dressings?

Mepore and Mepore Ultra are absorbent, self-adhesive dressings for covering cuts, grazes and minor wounds, with every dressing individually wrapped. Standard Mepore has a soft, flexible non-woven fabric backing; Mepore Ultra adds a showerproof outer film that protects the wound from water and contamination. Both come in several sizes, from a small 7 x 8cm to a long 9 x 30cm.

How does it help?

A central pad absorbs low to moderate amounts of wound fluid, while its low-adherent layer reduces the chance of it sticking to the wound. The water-based adhesive holds the dressing in place and is designed to be gentle on the skin and easy to remove. Peel back the release papers, place the dressing without stretching it, and smooth down the border. To remove, peel slowly in the direction of hair growth.

Who should take care?

For external use on minor wounds. Do not stretch the dressing when applying it, and take care that it does not restrict movement over a joint. Change it as often as the wound needs. Mepore Ultra is showerproof, not for soaking in a bath or swimming. See a nurse, doctor or our pharmacist if a wound is deep, will not stop bleeding, or shows signs of infection such as spreading redness, swelling, heat or pus.
