What is Loratadine 10mg Tablets 30?

Loratadine 10mg Tablets are a generic antihistamine made by Flamingo Pharma. Loratadine is used to relieve the symptoms of allergic rhinitis - the sneezing, runny or itchy nose and itchy, watery eyes of hay fever, and of year-round allergies such as house dust mite or pet allergy - and the itching and rash of chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives). Each tablet contains 10 mg of loratadine.

How does it help?

Allergy symptoms happen when the body releases histamine in response to pollen, dust or another trigger. Loratadine blocks the H1 receptors that histamine acts on, so the sneezing, itching and watering settle. It is a second-generation antihistamine that does not readily pass into the brain, so at the recommended dose it is unlikely to make you drowsy. Adults and children aged 12 and over, and children aged 6 to 12 who weigh more than 30 kg, take one tablet once a day, with or without food. Its effect lasts 24 hours, so one daily dose is enough.

Who should take care?

Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Not for children under 6, or for children aged 6 to 12 who weigh 30 kg or less - a liquid form is more suitable and our pharmacist can advise. Do not take if you are allergic to loratadine or any of the ingredients. If you have severe liver problems, a lower starting dose of 10 mg every other day is recommended - ask our pharmacist. Not recommended in pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Contains lactose. Stop taking loratadine at least 48 hours before any allergy skin-prick test, as it can affect the result. Very rarely it can cause drowsiness - if affected, do not drive or use machines.
