What is Imodium 2 mg Capsules?

Imodium contains loperamide and is used for the short-term control of sudden (acute) diarrhoea in adults and children aged 12 and over. It can also help settle the stomach cramps that often come with it.

How does it help?

Loperamide works in the gut to slow down the movement of the bowel. This gives the body more time to reabsorb water, so stools become firmer and you go to the toilet less often, bringing symptoms under control quickly.

Who should take care?

Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Don't use if you're allergic to any of the ingredients. Do not use for more than a couple of days without advice, and see a doctor if there is blood in your stools, a high fever, or the diarrhoea does not improve.
