E45 Emollient Bath Oil is a moisturising bath additive for dry, itchy or rough skin. It's a cosmetic emollient rather than a licensed medicine.

Who should take care?
For external use only. Bath oils make surfaces slippery, so take care getting in and out of the bath. Avoid contact with the eyes, and don't use if you're allergic to any of the ingredients.
Common questions
What is the difference between E45 Bath Oil and E45 Cream?
The bath oil goes into the water and leaves a fine film of moisturising oils over the whole body as you get out; a cream is rubbed straight onto the skin and stays there. They do different jobs — a leave-on cream is still the mainstay for dry skin, and the bath oil is there to stop washing drying you out further. Our moisturisers range covers the leave-on side.
Does adding a bath oil actually help eczema?
A large UK trial (BATHE) found that for children with eczema, bath additives added little on top of the basics — regular leave-on emollients and washing with an emollient instead of soap. Many people still find a bath oil makes bathing kinder to dry, itchy skin. If skin is weeping, crusting, or hot and swollen, that needs same-day advice from your GP or NHS 111 rather than a bath oil.
Can children and babies use it?
The pack states E45 Bath Oil can be used daily by the whole family, including infants over one month old, and it gives the amount for an adult bath and for a smaller child’s bath. Never leave a child unattended in the bath, and take real care lifting them out — the oil leaves the bath and the skin slippery. Avoid the eyes, and rinse with clean water if it gets in.
Is there a fire risk with a paraffin bath oil?
Yes, and it’s worth knowing. This is a paraffin-based emollient, and the MHRA warns that emollient residue soaking into clothing, bedding and dressings makes fabric catch light faster and burn more fiercely — ordinary washing doesn’t remove it. Don’t smoke or go near naked flames while you’re using emollients, and change and wash nightwear and bedding regularly.
