What is the difference between Cetaphil Moisturising Lotion and Cetaphil Moisturising Cream?

Texture, mostly. The lotion holds more water, so it’s lighter, sinks in quickly and doesn’t feel greasy — easy over large areas or under clothes. The cream is thicker and richer, which suits very dry or rough patches better. Plenty of people use the lotion day to day and keep something richer for problem areas.

Can I use it on my face as well as my body?

Yes — Galderma sell it as a moisturiser for face and body, and the pack we stock is the 236 ml bottle. It’s fragrance-free and won’t clog pores, which is why it tends to suit skin that reacts to scented products. Keep it away from your eyes, and if you use prescribed face treatments, ask our pharmacist how to fit it around them.

Is it suitable for eczema-prone skin?

It’s a fragrance-free cosmetic moisturiser for dry, sensitive skin rather than a licensed eczema treatment. NHS advice for eczema is to use a leave-on emollient regularly and to wash with an emollient instead of soap. When should dry skin be looked at rather than just moisturised?

If skin is blistered, weeping or crusting, has pus-filled spots, or is painful, swollen or hot to touch, that can mean infection — contact your GP or NHS 111 the same day.
