What is Canesten Thrush Combi Internal & External Creams?

Canesten Thrush Combi Internal & External Creams are a treatment for vaginal thrush (candidal vaginitis) together with itching and soreness of the vulva, for women aged 16 to 60 whose thrush has been diagnosed by a doctor before.

How does it help?

Clotrimazole is an antifungal that kills the yeast causing thrush. Insert the whole pre-filled applicator of internal cream as deep into the vagina as is comfortable, preferably at bedtime. Apply the external cream thinly to the vulva and the surrounding area two or three times a day until the symptoms go. If there is no improvement within 7 days, see a doctor.

Who should take care?

Only if a doctor has diagnosed thrush before. See a doctor instead if you are under 16 or over 60, pregnant or might be, have had thrush more than twice in 6 months, have had a sexually transmitted infection (or your partner has), or have unusual bleeding, sores or blisters, tummy pain, pain passing urine, a fever, feeling sick, diarrhoea or a smelly discharge. Avoid using it during your period. Do not use tampons, douches or spermicides during treatment. It can damage latex condoms and diaphragms. Contains cetostearyl and benzyl alcohol.
