Canesten Thrush Duo is a complete treatment for vaginal thrush, combining a fluconazole 150 mg oral capsule with a clotrimazole 2% external cream in one pack. It treats the infection and eases external itching and soreness.

How does it help?

Fluconazole and clotrimazole are antifungals that stop the growth of the yeast (Candida) that causes thrush; the capsule treats the internal infection while the cream soothes external symptoms around the vaginal area.

What’s the difference between Thrush Duo and the oral capsule on its own?
Thrush Duo pairs a fluconazole 150 mg capsule, which treats the infection from the inside, with a clotrimazole 2% cream for the itching and soreness on the outside. The capsule on its own gives you only the internal half. If external soreness is bothering you too, that’s the gap the cream is licensed to fill.
Why does a pharmacist have to check the order?
Fluconazole taken by mouth can interact with other medicines — the licence rules out taking it alongside cisapride, astemizole, pimozide, quinidine, erythromycin or terfenadine. The label also sets an age range of 16–60, and fluconazole isn’t for use in pregnancy without a doctor’s advice. A few short questions let our pharmacist confirm it’s safe for you.
