What is Algesal Local Analgesic Cream 50g?
Algesal is a pharmacy medicine for the symptomatic relief of rheumatic and minor musculoskeletal conditions, including lumbago, fibrositis, sciatica, bruises and strains, for adults and children aged 6 and over.
How does it help?
Diethylamine salicylate is a salicylate (related to aspirin) that is absorbed through the skin to ease pain at the site. Try a little on a small area first. Apply a small amount to the affected area three times a day and massage until fully absorbed; always use sparingly, and wash your hands after use.
Key benefits
- Rub-on relief for muscles and joints
- Three times a day
- Lavender-scented cream
- From age 6
Who should take care?
Not for children under 6, or a child with a history of convulsions (fits). Do not use on broken skin or if you are allergic to aspirin or other anti-inflammatory medicines, especially with asthma. Keep away from the eyes and sensitive skin; it may cause redness or warmth, especially after a hot bath. Fire hazard: fabric in contact with the cream burns more easily - keep away from flames and do not smoke. Tell your pharmacist if you take warfarin or methotrexate. Not in pregnancy or breastfeeding unless a doctor advises. See a doctor if pain is no better after 7 days.
