What is Derbac-M Liquid 0.5% Malathion 150ml?

Derbac-M Liquid is a pharmacy medicine containing malathion 0.5%, an insecticide, for treating head lice, pubic (crab) lice and their eggs, and scabies, in adults and children aged 6 months and over.

How does it help?

Malathion kills lice, their eggs and the scabies mite. For head lice, apply to dry hair so the whole scalp is covered and let it dry naturally in a warm, well-ventilated room. For pubic lice, cover the whole skin area, especially all hairy areas. For scabies, apply to the whole skin surface - for babies under 2, this includes the scalp, face and ears, avoiding the eyes and mouth. Leave it on as the leaflet directs, and repeat after 7 days.

Who should take care?

Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Not for babies under 6 months. Do not use it if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. If you have asthma, speak to our pharmacist or your doctor before using it. If your skin is sensitive, test a small amount first. Do not use it more than once a week, or for more than three weeks in a row, as it can irritate or burn the skin. Keep it away from the eyes and mouth. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, speak to our pharmacist before using it. Everyone in the household who has lice or scabies should be treated at the same time.
