What is Corsodyl Mint Mouthwash 300ml?
A mint-flavoured antiseptic mouthwash used for short courses when the gums are sore or inflamed, when you have a mouth ulcer or a sore patch, after dental treatment, or when normal brushing is difficult — for example around a healing extraction site. It is a licensed medicine rather than a cosmetic freshening rinse, and is normally used for a limited period rather than every day indefinitely.
How does it help?
Chlorhexidine sticks to the surfaces inside the mouth — teeth, gums and the lining — and stays there for several hours after rinsing. While it is there it reduces the bacteria that build up in plaque and settle on sore or healing areas, which gives inflamed gums and ulcers a better chance to settle.
Key benefits
- Keeps working for several hours after you rinse, not just while it is in the mouth
- Useful when brushing an area is too painful or has been advised against
- Measured 10ml dose twice a day, so a bottle covers a typical short course
- Mint flavoured, which makes the twice-daily routine easier to keep to
Who should take care?
Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Do not swallow it, and do not dilute it. Chlorhexidine can stain the teeth, tongue, fillings and dentures brown — brushing before rinsing helps, and a dental clean usually removes it. Leave at least 30 minutes between brushing with toothpaste and using this mouthwash, because ingredients in toothpaste stop chlorhexidine working. It can temporarily alter your sense of taste and may cause a burning sensation. Not for children under 12 unless a pharmacist or dentist advises it. See your dentist or doctor if a mouth ulcer or sore patch lasts more than three weeks, and speak to us before using it for longer than a month at a time. Our pharmacist checks your answers before it is supplied.
