Vitabiotics Ultra Iron is a one-a-day sustained-release food supplement providing 14mg of iron with vitamin C, which increases iron absorption, in a 30-tablet pack.
What is Vitabiotics Ultra Iron Tablets (30)?
Ultra Iron is a Vitabiotics food supplement that provides 14mg of iron a day, alongside vitamin C, vitamin B12 and folic acid, for adults who want to top up the iron in their diet. It is not the same as a licensed iron medicine prescribed to treat diagnosed iron-deficiency anaemia.
How does it help?
Each tablet is made to release its iron gradually. Iron contributes to the normal formation of red blood cells and haemoglobin and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, and the added vitamin C increases iron absorption. You take one tablet a day with your main meal, swallowed with water or a cold drink rather than chewed.
Key benefits
- One tablet a day with your main meal
- 14mg iron, with vitamin C to increase iron absorption
- Sustained-release tablet
- Suitable for vegetarians and vegans
Who should take care?
Always read the instructions before use. This is a food supplement rather than a licensed medicine, so the pack label and directions are what to read before taking it. Do not exceed one tablet a day, and check first before taking it alongside another iron-containing supplement or multivitamin. It contains iron, which can be harmful to very young children if taken in excess, so keep it well out of their sight and reach. It is not suitable for children. Speak to your doctor or our pharmacist before taking it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have epilepsy, have haemochromatosis (a condition where iron builds up in the body), have food allergies or are under medical supervision. Iron can affect how some medicines are absorbed, including certain antibiotics and thyroid tablets, so ask our pharmacist about timing. It is made on a site that may handle nuts and peanuts. If you feel tired all the time or think you may be anaemic, see your GP for a blood test rather than relying on a supplement. A supplement does not replace a varied and balanced diet.
