Piz Buin Allergy Sun Sensitive Skin Face Cream SPF 30 is a facial sun cream formulated for skin that is sensitive to the sun. It gives high UVA and UVB protection to help prevent sun-allergy flare-ups.

Who should take care?

For external use only. Apply generously before sun exposure and reapply regularly, especially after swimming or towelling. Avoid the eyes. Over-exposure to the sun is a serious health threat, so don't stay in the sun too long even while using a sun product. Stop use if irritation occurs.

Common questions

What is a ‘sun allergy’, and will this stop one?
Most often it’s polymorphic light eruption — an itchy rash of small raised spots or blotches appearing within hours or days of being in the sun. Piz Buin formulated this cream for sun-sensitive skin, with their Calmanelle complex and feverfew extract. Sun protection helps, but for a diagnosed sun allergy the NHS advises SPF 50 or higher, so do ask our pharmacist.
Is SPF 30 high enough?
The NHS advises at least factor 30 with at least 4-star UVA protection, and this is a high-protection SPF 30 with UVA and UVB filters — the star rating is printed on the pack. What it can’t do is work alone: shade between 11am and 3pm, a hat and covering clothing still matter. See our sun protection range.
How often should I reapply it?
Apply it before you go out, then reapply every two hours and again after swimming, sweating or towel-drying. It’s water and perspiration resistant, but towelling still takes some off. Piz Buin also warn that applying a thin layer lowers the protection level significantly — being generous matters more than most people expect.
When should I see someone about a sun rash or sunburn?
See your GP if a sun rash gets worse, lasts longer than a week, becomes swollen, or comes with joint or muscle pain or extreme tiredness. Get medical help for severe sunburn that blisters or swells. And report any new mole, or one that changes size, shape or colour — caught early, skin cancer is far easier to treat.
