What is Optrex Hayfever Relief Eye Drops 10ml?

Optrex Hayfever Relief Eye Drops contain sodium cromoglicate and are used for the eye symptoms of hay fever and other allergies: itching, redness, watering and grittiness caused by pollen, dust or animal dander.

How does it help?

Sodium cromoglicate works on the mast cells in the surface of the eye, helping to stop them releasing the chemicals such as histamine that cause the itching and watering when an allergen lands on the eye. Because it works by preventing that release, it works best when used regularly through the allergy season rather than only on the worst days.

Who should take care?

Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Do not use if you are allergic to sodium cromoglicate or any of the other ingredients. Do not use for a red or painful eye, changed vision, an eye injury, or a suspected eye infection: see your GP or optician instead. These drops contain a preservative, so remove soft contact lenses before use and wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back in. Do not touch the dropper tip to the eye, and follow the leaflet on how long to keep the bottle after opening. See your GP if your symptoms do not improve.
