What is Canesbalance BV Vaginal Gel?

Canesbalance BV Vaginal Gel is a medical device, not a medicine, for the symptoms of bacterial vaginosis (BV): a thin, watery grey or white discharge and an unpleasant fishy odour, often noticed after sex or around a period. The pack contains 7 pre-filled single-use applicators, one for each day of the 7-day course.

How does it help?

BV develops when the balance of bacteria in the vagina shifts and the pH rises above its normal, slightly acidic level. The gel contains lactic acid, which lowers the pH back towards normal and relieves the odour, and glycogen, which feeds the beneficial lactobacilli so they can re-establish themselves. One applicator is used each day, ideally at bedtime, for 7 days.

Who should take care?

See a doctor if symptoms have not improved after the course, if you have pelvic pain, bleeding, a fever or blisters, or if symptoms keep coming back.
