What is AeroChamber Plus Flow-Vu Anti-Static Holding Chamber?

An anti-static valved holding chamber, or spacer, used together with a pressurised metered-dose inhaler. It helps deliver asthma or other inhaler medicine more effectively. A medical device available without prescription.

How does it help?

The inhaler is fired into the chamber, which holds the puff of medicine so you can breathe it in at your own pace. This helps more of the medicine reach the lungs rather than staying in the mouth and throat.

Key benefits

  • Helps more medicine reach the lungs
  • Easier to co-ordinate than an inhaler alone
  • Flow-Vu indicator shows correct breathing
  • Anti-static chamber for consistent dosing
  • Works with most pressurised inhalers

Who should take care?

Use only with a pressurised metered-dose inhaler as directed. Clean the chamber regularly following the instructions supplied. Speak to our pharmacist if you're unsure which mask or size is right, or how to use it with your inhaler.

Common questions

How do I use the AeroChamber Plus?
Shake your inhaler, fit it into the back of the spacer, breathe out gently, seal your lips round the mouthpiece, press one puff, then breathe in slowly — if it whistles, slow down. Hold your breath up to 10 seconds. Wait ~30 seconds between puffs. Young children use the mask version with 5–6 normal breaths per puff.
Why does it whistle?
The whistle is a built-in speed alarm — you’re breathing in too fast for the medicine to reach your lungs. Slow the breath until it stops.
How do I clean it, and how often?
Weekly: soak in warm water with a drop of washing-up liquid, rinse, and air-dry standing up. Never scrub or towel-dry the inside — static makes the medicine stick to the walls. Dishwasher-safe on the top rack.
When should I replace it?
Every 12 months with regular use — sooner if the valve is damaged or the chamber is cracked or cloudy.
Do I need a prescription?
No — it’s a medical device, not a medicine, so you can buy it without a prescription. Your inhaler stays on prescription as usual.
