A two-test home urine kit that checks for a raised level of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), one of the hormone changes seen around the menopause, with a result in about five minutes.

What is Menopause (FSH) Home Test Kit 2 Tests?

This is a home urine test that looks for a raised level of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). FSH rises as the ovaries begin to wind down, so a high reading is one of the signs that the menopause transition (perimenopause) may have started. The pack contains two tests so you can repeat the check about a week later, because FSH levels go up and down from day to day.

How does it help?

Hold the absorbent tip in your urine stream for at least 10 seconds, or dip it in a clean sample, replace the cap and wait five minutes. A line in the control window shows the test has worked; a second line in the test window, however faint, means FSH is above the test's threshold. Because FSH fluctuates through the month, the maker suggests testing again around a week later - two raised results are a stronger pointer than one.

Key benefits

  • Result at home in about five minutes
  • Two tests in the pack so you can repeat and compare
  • Simple to use - no blood sample or appointment needed
  • Gives you something concrete to take to a conversation with your GP or pharmacist

Who should take care?

Always read the instructions before use. This test does not diagnose the menopause on its own. FSH varies through the month and can be raised for other reasons, and hormonal contraception, HRT and some fertility treatments can affect the result. A negative result does not rule out perimenopause, and a positive result does not mean you can stop contraception - you can still become pregnant during perimenopause, so ask your GP or our pharmacist when it is safe to stop. Test with first-morning urine where you can, and take your results to your GP or talk to our pharmacist about what they mean for you.
