What is Cystopurin Cranberry Flavour 3g Sachets 6?

Cystopurin is a general sale medicine for symptomatic relief of mild urinary tract infections (cystitis) - the burning, stinging pain when passing water.

How does it help?

Potassium citrate makes the urine less acidic, easing the burning and stinging. Empty one sachet into a small glass (200ml) of cold water and stir until dissolved; take one three times a day for two days. All six sachets must be taken to complete the course. Adults and children aged 6 and over take the same dose.

Who should take care?

Always read the leaflet. Do not take it if you have kidney disease or are allergic to potassium citrate. Check with our pharmacist first if you have heart problems, have phenylketonuria (contains aspartame), or take medicines for blood pressure or the heart (such as ACE inhibitors, angiotensin-II blockers, aliskiren, potassium-sparing diuretics or digoxin), ciclosporin or tacrolimus, or methenamine. If you are pregnant, a man, or under 16, or have a high temperature, pain in your back or side, blood in your urine, or symptoms that last beyond 48 hours, see a pharmacist or GP - women aged 16 to 64 can be assessed for treatment by our pharmacist under the NHS Pharmacy First service.
