Brolene Eye Drops are a pharmacy medicine containing propamidine isetionate, used to treat minor eye infections such as conjunctivitis and blepharitis.

What is Brolene Eye Drops 10ml?

A small bottle of sterile eye drops containing propamidine isetionate, an antiseptic used for minor infections of the eye and eyelid, such as conjunctivitis and blepharitis. It is a pharmacy medicine, so it is kept behind the counter and handed over after a short check with our team.

How does it help?

Propamidine isetionate is an antiseptic rather than an antibiotic. Dropped into the eye, it acts on the surface of the eye and eyelid to reduce the bacteria involved in a minor infection, giving the eye a chance to settle. It works where it is applied and is not absorbed into the body in any meaningful amount.

Key benefits

  • Treats minor eye infections such as conjunctivitis and blepharitis
  • Sterile drops in a simple dropper bottle, so each dose is easy to apply
  • Works on the surface of the eye, where the problem is
  • Available from the pharmacy counter without a prescription, once our team has checked it suits you

Who should take care?

Always read the patient information leaflet before use. This is for short-term use only: see your doctor or optometrist if your eye has not improved after a few days. Seek advice straight away, rather than treating at home, if you have eye pain, any change in your vision, sensitivity to light, or an injury to the eye. Do not use it if you have ever reacted to propamidine isetionate. Contact lenses should not usually be worn during treatment. Do not let the dropper tip touch your eye or any surface, and do not share the bottle with anyone else. Our pharmacist checks it is right for you before it is supplied.
