Mounjaro (tirzepatide) at Hyde Park Pharmacy

A pharmacist-led weight management programme. Every patient is assessed in person or by video consultation before any treatment is considered, in line with GPhC February 2025 guidance on the safe supply of weight loss medicines.

Important. Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine (POM). We cannot supply it on request. A pharmacist must verify your identity, confirm your height and weight in person or by video, and assess clinical suitability before any prescription is issued. We follow GPhC February 2025 guidance — self-reported BMI is not sufficient.

What is Mounjaro?

Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable medicine that acts on two gut hormone receptors (GLP-1 and GIP). It is licensed in the UK for chronic weight management alongside diet and physical activity in adults who meet specific clinical criteria.

Mounjaro is not a quick fix and is not appropriate for everyone. It is used as part of a longer-term, clinically supervised programme — not a short-term aesthetic treatment.

Who may be eligible?

Eligibility is decided by the pharmacist at consultation. As a guide, current UK clinical criteria typically require:

Mounjaro is not suitable if you

This list is not exhaustive. The pharmacist will review your full medical history and current medications during your consultation.

Check whether your BMI falls in the considered range

BMI is one screen, not the decision. The pharmacist verifies BMI at consultation. This calculator gives you a heads-up of where you'd start the conversation.

Important: the calculator above does not approve or reject you. It tells you the BMI category. Eligibility is decided by Shoyab Umarji (Independent Prescribing Pharmacist, GPhC #2065619) after a full video consultation including BMI verification, medical-history review, and current medications check.

How treatment works at Hyde Park Pharmacy

1

Get in touch

Message us on WhatsApp, call, or pop in. Tell us you're interested in a Mounjaro consultation and we'll explain the next step.

2

Initial consultation

An in-person or video consultation with our pharmacist. We verify your identity, measure or confirm height and weight, and review your medical history.

3

Clinical decision

If treatment is clinically appropriate, the pharmacist issues a prescription under our Patient Group Direction. If it isn't, we'll explain why and discuss alternatives.

4

Ongoing support

Regular review consultations to monitor progress, side effects, and dose adjustments. You stay in contact with the same pharmacy team throughout.

What it costs

Pricing is confirmed at consultation and depends on the dose and treatment length the pharmacist recommends. Mounjaro is supplied in escalating doses — typically starting at 2.5 mg per week and increasing under clinical guidance.

We will explain the full cost (medicine + dispensing + follow-up consultations) before any payment is taken. There is no charge for the initial consultation if treatment is not clinically appropriate for you.

⚠️ Be cautious of websites offering Mounjaro at very low prices without an in-person or video consultation, identity verification, or measured BMI. The MHRA has warned about counterfeit GLP-1 injections in circulation. All medicine supplied by Hyde Park Pharmacy is sourced through licensed UK wholesalers.

Common side effects to know about

Most side effects are mild and gastrointestinal — they tend to improve as your body adjusts. The most common are:

Less common but more serious side effects (severe abdominal pain, signs of pancreatitis, allergic reactions, vision changes if you have diabetes) require urgent medical attention. We will give you a full information leaflet and emergency guidance at your consultation.

FAQ

Do I need a prescription from my GP first?

No. Hyde Park Pharmacy can prescribe Mounjaro under a Patient Group Direction (PGD) after a clinical consultation, provided the pharmacist judges treatment is appropriate for you.

Can I just buy Mounjaro from you over the counter?

No. Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine (POM). A pharmacist must consult with you, verify your identity and measure (or confirm) your BMI before any supply.

Is the consultation in person or by video?

Either is acceptable. Many patients prefer to come into the pharmacy for the initial consultation, but a video consultation is available where appropriate. Identity and weight verification still apply on video — we will explain how this works when you book.

Can I do it all online without a video call?

No. Following GPhC February 2025 guidance on the safe supply of high-risk medicines, an in-person or video consultation is required for Mounjaro. Self-reported weight on a form is not enough.

How long does treatment last?

Mounjaro is a long-term medicine. Some patients use it for many months or longer; others use it for a shorter period as part of a broader plan. The pharmacist will discuss expected duration at consultation.

What if I'm already on Wegovy or another GLP-1?

Tell us at consultation. Switching between GLP-1 medicines needs careful dose management. We won't supply Mounjaro if you're already getting another GLP-1 elsewhere unless we are coordinating the change properly.

Do you deliver?

Local delivery in LS-postcodes is available. Nationwide delivery may be possible depending on the medicine, dose, and dispatch availability — confirmed at consultation.

Ready to start the conversation?

The first step is a short message or call so we can explain how the consultation works. There's no commitment and no charge for an initial chat.
